Jalovilla Pässi Sock yarn is 100% Finnish, 3 ply yarn. The yarn can also contain other breeds, but it is also completely Finnish wool. Jalovilla Pässi Sock yarn contains 85% Finnish wool and 15% nylon.
Jalovilla’s Finnish wool yarns come from Finnish small-scale spinning mills, some of the yarns are cargo-spun yarn that can be tracked. 100% wool yarn only contains wool from native breeds (mostly Finnish sheep), the sock yarn may contain other breeds, but all are Finnish wool. Yarns are not allergy-free.
Jalovilla’s yarns are dyed by hand in small (1-10 skeins) batches, in a small workshop in Altia’s old yeast factory in Rajamäki, with domestic reactive dyes. Some dyeing is also done with local natural colors. Jalovilla has a color chart, but it is not regularly available. Most of the yarns are unique one-time dyes, so reserve enough yarn for your work. The dyeing methods are organized ecologically, thinking about all work steps as rationally as possible and sparing nature.
Please note that the yarns have been processed as little as possible so that the good natural properties of the wool are not affected, thus the yarns have not been superwashed or mothproofed. Yarns may contain litter pieces (hay, straw), lanolin and knots. The yarns are washed with domestic mild biodegradable wool detergent after dyeing. Please wash the product by hand at a temperature of 30-40 degrees. Reactive dye may come off in the first washes.
