The Scarlet Cardigan is worked top down, featuring a textured knit stitch pattern down the center back, on both sides, and along the underarms of the sleeves. The back yoke is first worked flat, while the shoulders are shaped with short rows. An i-cord edge is then knitted along the cast-on edge of the back yoke. Stitches for the shoulders are picked up and knitted from this i-cord edge, and the shoulders are worked flat separately. Increases are made on the shoulders for the V-neck. The front pieces and back yoke are joined to form the body, which is worked back and forth on a circular needle. The sleeves are worked by picking up and knitting stitches from the armholes. Finally, stitches are picked up and knitted along the front edges to create a double, knitted button band.

Size Guide

The Scarlet Cardigan is designed with approximately 25 cm of positive ease in the smallest sizes, with ease gradually decreasing for larger sizes. Sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) are designed to fit a bust circumference of 75–80 (80–85) 85–90 (90–95) 95–100 (100–110) 110–120 (120–130) 130–140 (140–150) cm.

The finished cardigan measurements can be found on the first page of the pattern. Please note that these measurements are only valid if the gauge matches the pattern. Measure yourself before starting the project to choose the best size for you. For example, if your bust circumference (or the widest part of your upper body) is 90 cm, you should knit size S. The finished bust circumference of the size S cardigan is 115 cm, which gives 25 cm of positive ease in this example.
