The PetiteKnit Maggie Cardigan is knitted top-down. First, the upper back panel is knitted flat and shaped with increases. Then, each shoulder is knitted separately from stitches picked up from the back panel. Stitches are picked up from the shoulders for the rest of the yoke and the body, which are knitted flat on circular needles. The sleeves are knitted in the round using double-pointed needles or long circular needles with the magic loop method. Finally, a trim is knitted along the front edges and the neckline.

Knit a gauge swatch before starting to ensure the needle size is correct.

Instructions for choosing a size

The cardigan has approximately 5 cm of positive ease, meaning its circumference should be about 5 cm larger than your own bust circumference. Sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) are designed to fit a bust circumference of 75–80 (80–85) 85–90 (90–95) 95–100 (100–110) 110–120 (120–130) 130–140 (140–150) cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan are provided on the first page of the pattern. Please note that the measurements are accurate only if the given gauge is followed. Measure yourself before starting the project to choose the correct size. Example: if your bust circumference (or the widest part of your upper body) is 90 cm, choose size S. The bust circumference of a size S cardigan is 96 cm, meaning in this case, there would be 6 cm of positive ease.
