Ruin socks are inspired by a species of fern that grows on a rock, called Tummaraunioinen. The socks go well with the Raunioiset-Tuubihuiv, which can be found in the same pattern. The socks were designed by the talented Suvi Lyytikäinen (@suvis.knits), whose instructions you can find more on us and on Ravelry .

Size : 37-39 (40-41)
Sock dimensions:

  • stem height 12(12) cm
  • foot length 24-25(25-26) cm
  • foot width 9.5(10.5) cm

Supplies:

  • 2.5 mm at least 80 cm circular needles
  • 1 braiding stick
  • 11 stitch markers
  • blunt needle for reasoning

Knitting density: 27 stitches x 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm stockinette stitch with 2.5 mm needles
Yarn:
Sport-strong wool or merino wool yarn. We recommend domestic WillaWanttuut Aino sock yarn, 80% Finnish sheep's wool 20% nylon (100 g = 350 m)
Thread flow:
80(90) g of recommended yarn or at least 280(315) m of other Sport-strong yarn, for example Laurelknits BFL Silky Sock.

Techniques:
The socks are knitted from tip to shank with the Magic Loop technique. Stockinette stitch always consists of stockinette stitch and picked up stitches. On top, the Raunioiset pattern is knitted as a braid. The socks are reinforced
French heel and tape narrowing at the tip. The sock is finished as an I-cord.
